Tlang Gae is a call to our children, and to the village around them, to come home. As Botswana celebrates 60 years of Independence, we have an opportunity not only to celebrate how far we have come, but to ask what we are passing on to the generation that will carry Botswana forward.
Culture gives us roots; creativity gives us the freedom to explore, express and reimagine those roots; and play is one of the first ways a child encounters both. Through games, songs, stories, movement, language and imagination, children learn who they are, where they come from, how to live with others and that they belong.
